Author David Richman suffered a major stroke in 2011. A huge blood clot had formed that could have killed him instantly or maimed him seriously for life. But he was extremely fortunate. Although he remained comatose for thirty-six hours, the clot lodged in a harmless position in his lower brain and cased him no harm.
Of course, being so close to death was life-altering in and of itself. But David’s episode also had another, other-worldly dimension to it, a classic Near-Death Experience. As it began, he knew he was seriously ill and possibly dying. Then, unexpectedly, a kindly inner guide began communicating with him, preparing him for what was coming. and assuring him all was well. After lying in a semi-coma for 36 hours, followed by ten days in intensive care, he emerged unscathed and made a complete recovery.
